letting go

I awoke

In the chilled

Morning sun,

Felt the summer

fade into dust.

I felt it immediately.

I finally let you go,

Not given you

Up exactly.

Instead of sending

You packing, I

Took what was mine

And mine, alone,

Went on my way

Towards greater unknowns.

I felt free,

Freer than possibility.
